There are problems in aged care, but more competition isn’t the solution

‘Competition’ is often seen as a major driver of quality and efficiency in social care markets. But a team from the University of Melbourne conducted a study into the effect of competition on a range of nursing home quality and price measures, and found no evidence that competition increases quality of care, and only a weak association between competition and price.
